Director Bobby Razak is coming out with a documentary film on the history of MMA. Where MMA comes from is a matter of how far back in time you want to look, because at different times, there have been examples of cross discipline matches, bare knuckle matches, and teachers mixing, refining, and advancing a given martial art. By the trailer, this documentary is about how people had been thinking about the idea since the sixties, and from then how it came together.
Filmmaker Ravi Kumar has published a short video titled “The Journey” a story about fighters and the struggle and work they put in on their path to glory. Featuring Canadian Boxing Champion Junior “The Real Deal” Moar.
Wow this interview with Chael was the biggest media meltdown since Billy Bob Thorton. I dont think he really wanted to be interviewed all that much! Maybe a little more fiber in his diet would help!

I spotted a post tonight from theatlantic.com about a California fight club created by geeks working at the big names in tech that we all know like Google and Apple, among others. The urge to stand and bang is finding its way deeper into society, where people are taking their stress of their work and lives and turning it into power. They do bare knuckles, stick fighting, and then have fun with toys like a dustbuster battle, chairs, and computer keyboards.
Hmm, I wonder if they have any room down there? I am a PHP coder, I wonder if I could get down there and kick some dev butt. In tech, I have noticed that people’s lifestyles gravitate to one of two poles: they are either vegan bike riders, or they are Jabba the Hut. Good to see these people considering the choices to make in their lives, and contemplating the meaning of the fight.
Tommy Conlon returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh and enlists his father, a recovered alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the sport. Meanwhile, his estranged brother, Brendan, a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family after being suspended from his day job. When Brendan’s unlikely rise as an underdog sets him on a collision course with Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront the forces that tore them apart, all the while waging the most intense, winner-takes-all battle of their lives.

Need an enforcer? UFC and Boost Mobile have teamed up to offer a contest for the rest of us working stiffs. Got an asshole co-worker that messes with your shit, or some job that is just plain shitty? You aint gettin no respect? DUDE! You can enter the contest UFC and Boost Mobile are offering to bring in a UFC fighter on your job. Who better than a battle hardened cage fighter to make people listen and respect you? Come to think of it, I could have used someone like Rich Franklin many times over in the workplace to straighten out jerk offs that pushed me around. Dana White could be on to something here.
