About
I am a web developer. Folks of my ilk tend to be ether the bike riding health nut, or they are overweight. In fact there is what is well known as the obligatory 60lb weight gain as a software developer. That is, if you hang out in front of a computer long enough, you will gain 60lbs. I guarantee it. Recently, learning that a family member has been diagnosed with diabetes sent a chill through me. I knew that it was time to act. Time to spend more on my exercise plan and do something about those floppy love handles, that growing jowl, that aching back, and above all, the slacker ethic. Time to exercise and diet like I mean it, or consider losing a foot or blindness down the road.
Want an awesome website? I can create one for you. I have close to 10 years experience in web development, PHP/MySQL programming. Find out more by visiting my main site, SuperWebDeveloper.com.
In martial arts, I did some White Crane Gung Fu when I was a kid, but that was a long time ago. A couple years ago I went to one Aikido class. Before that I had a crazy room mate that kept telling me to get into Aikido. He even gave me a gi as a gift. But I wasn’t able to to connect the dots just yet. Later I took on an introductory class to 24 form Tai-Chi instructed by Grand Master Shou-yu Liang and Master Helen Liang. I stepped into a dojo now and then to see if it would be a fit for me. But maybe the kicker was Tony Jaa’s movies Ong Bak and The Protector, and all the Jackie Chan Movies I have seen over the years.
At long last I got into a martial arts program. Eventually, I became more motivated and was lucky to find a new gym, Versus 21, across the street from where I was working. I was blown away to discover they had such a marvellous teacher in Sensei Blake Lirette, who has a long list of credentials beyond his world kickboxing title.
The experience is starting to transform me. Muscles grow, fat diminishes. Suddenly I realise I have been collecting information, learning things, and my casual interest in martial arts is now starting to blossom. So many people have shared with me, and I want to share back.
Ill be blogging here about the road to fitness. Ill be blogging about different gyms, senseis, disciplines, movies, news events, exercise, diet, and the students who strive to better themselves.
I wish you well on your quest to better yourself.
